The ‘DO Tweet’ List

So your brand has embraced social media. You’ve created a strategy, you hired the right people to do the job. You’re listening and responding and leveraging the data that is most valuable to you. And now you have even managed to engage your employees. Uh, oh. This is where management starts to sweat and brings out the ol’ social media policy. Between all the best practices, webinars and articles written about what to incorporate into your company social media policy I have noticed an overwhelming trend toward the “don’t” list. With the emphasis of social media being on the social side, I find it interesting that creators of these policies are so focused on the negative. While there is certainly a place for what a company does not want it’s employees or contractors posting online - can’t we try to be more encouraging? In no particular order, here is my list of 10 Do Tweet’s: 1. Tweet your companys’ successes 2. Tweet your clients’ successes 3. Share or Re-Tweet interesting and relevant content 4. Listen and respond to customers in a timely manner 5. Acknowledge thought leaders 6. Be yourself 7. Be responsible 8. Build relationships 9. Provide and solicit feedback 10. Be friendly If you have any ideas to add to the ‘Do Tweet’ list, feel free to share them below. We would love to hear from you.
