4 ways to boost commenting on your blog

The content monster is kind of like Cookie Monster in that he always wants more. However it isn’t so much the filling of content that keeps the writers spirit’s low - it’s the lack of comments. As participants in the social space everyone’s aim is to encourage sharing and explore discussion. Think of the content as the hunger and the comments as the cookie. Whether you write something every day or every week or every hour - without the comments you just don’t get the same satisfaction. Here are four ways to encourage commenting and participation on your blog: 1. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it… If the majority of your readers - or the audience you’re after anyway - is asleep when you post new content or you aren’t making use of multiple channels to showcase your goods, then how are we supposed to comment on it? 2. Stir the pot (a little or a lot) Don’t be afraid to create controversy or give an opinion. If your blog is bland and conservative than your outside participation, or lack thereof will be too. 3. I try to read before bed, but I always fall asleep If your audience loses interest before the end of your post the likelihood of them responding is zero. I just made that statistic up, but I don’t think I have ever left a comment in my sleep - let me know if you have. Keep your posts short and to the point. 4. You pat my back, I will pat yours Get out there and comment on other people’s blogs and they will be more inclined to visit your site and comment back. It is so simple - that it works. If you have any other ideas to encourage people to comment on your blog, or engage your audience feel free to share them with us. We would love to hear from you.
