WSB-TV and wsbtv.com based out of Atlanta, Georgia are offering viewers new incentives to join its iWitness2 Team and share user-generated content (UGC) of breaking news and weather to be aired on Channel 2 Action News newscasts. iWitness2 Team is a viewer generated site which encourages citizens to partake in the journalistic experience by uploading their first hand accounts of news events, weather, sports, entertainment, and travel stories from across Georgia and beyond. Starting now wsbtv.com will be holding a monthly contest to spotlight the best UGC added to iWitness2 through its website. Contributors can upload photos or video throughout the month. On the first day of the month the top 100 most viewed entries will be chosen from the previous month. From the top 100 the WSB-TV staff will select 25 to compete in the contest, with the five most viewed always receiving an entry into the top 25. Staff will select the remaining 20 winners based on news value, composition, relevance, quality, creativity and impression. Entries will then be added to the contest page for public viewing. The more views a video or photo submission received the more votes it will receive. Each page view will be considered one vote. The top five will move to the final round where a panel of judges will decide the winner. Each month the top photo or video contributor will receive $50 and the second place winner will receive $25.
