Crate and Barrel and DailyCandy, a popular lifestyle website are co-sponsoring the Ultimate Wedding contest with the help of the Strutta contest API that will offer loving couples a chance at their dream weddings. Strutta’s platform makes it easy to leverage the power of user-generated content (UGC) and social media to engage and encourage participation among fans. “This promotion is a first for Crate and Barrel and it was essential that we select a platform that was flexible, scalable and reliable,” said John Seebeck, direct marketing business director at Crate and Barrel. “We are very pleased with the Strutta contest platform and the level of service we have received.” Participants can visit the contest website from now until March 31, 2010 to register. Couples must set up a Crate and Barrel Wedding and Gift Registry that is equal or exceeds $2000. As well, contestants must fill out an entry form including a photo of the couple, the story of how they fell in love, three important details of your ultimate wedding day and your everyday dream day. It will be up to the individual couples to create enough buzz around their entry to gain public favour during the voting period. Submissions will be posted online for viewing and the top 50 with the highest number of votes will advance to the final round. The finalists will be then judged by a panel selected by the sponsor in the following categories; originality and creativity, how well the entry invokes and inspires Crate and Barrel’s lifestyle and the entry’s public voting ranking. The grand prize winner will receive the Ultimate Wedding planned by celebrity wedding planner Jo Gartin with a value of $100,000. Second place will receive a $7500 Create and Barrel Shop Card, with third place taking home a $2500 shop card. Fifteen honourable mentions will also be awarded as will the entry with the most popular vote.
